QUASI metà delle persone morte per coronavirus in Europa era residente di case di cura. Lo ha detto il direttore regionale dell’Oms Europa, Hans Kluge, in una conferenza stampa. “Il quadro su queste strutture è profondamente preoccupante”, ha sottolineato Kluge.
“Secondo le stime che arrivano dai Paesi europei la metà delle persone che sono morte di Covid-19 era residente in case di cura. È una tragedia inimmaginabile”, ha detto il direttore dell’Oms Europa.
“C’è un urgente ed immediato bisogno di ripensare il modo in cui operano le case di cura oggi e nei mesi a venire”, ha aggiunto sottolineando che “le persone compassionevoli e dedicate che lavorano in quelle strutture – spesso sovraccaricate di lavoro, sotto pagate e prive di protezione adeguata – sono gli eroi di questa pandemia”.
Un problema che coinvolge anche l’Italia dove sono numerosi gli anziani morti nelle case di riposo. Pochi giorni fa l’Istituto superiore di sanità (Iss) ha diffuso il terzo rapporto sui contagi nelle strutture residenziali e sociosanitarie. Dal primo febbraio al 14 aprile 2020 ci sono stati 6.773 decessi tra i residenti. Nel 40,2 per cento dei casi (2.724 s 6.773) le morti sono avvenute per Covid-19 o manifestazioni simil-influenzali.
Dati che inizano a emergere anche dai tamponi che arrivano dai laboratori. Milano, colpita dallo scandalo del caso Trivulzio, può essere un esempio. Al Policlinico, dove ogni giorno analizzano 500 test, nell’ultima settimana sono stati un migliaio quelli provenienti dalle case di riposo. Al Niguarda sono il 20 per cento dei 1.200 processati ogni giorno, circa 250. Gli esperti ricordano che “i dati aumentano ogni giorno”.
